It has been a very busy day for me today and as I was getting ready to rest a few minutes ago, some questions came to my mind:
1.How many Africans have ever been into space?
2.Why do we not have a jumbo jet manufacturing plant in Africa?
3.Do we know of an African who has ever built a multibillion dollar airport?
4.Do we have anyone who has ever created an Aeronautical Research Centre in Africa?
What is stopping us from achieving all this? Are our leaders forgetting that aviation is a key economic driver which opens great doors to massive job creation, international trade and tourism.I think the reason why we are not making great progress in that direction is that people believe that aviation is too capital intensive and hence we must wait for international donors to fund our aviation projects.
But the question I ask is : Why are we waiting for donor funding from outside? One thing that has slowed down our progress in Africa is waiting – waiting to be healthy, to be happy, to be wealthy, to start a new business, to fall in love. But waiting is a trap sometimes. Why are we waiting for things to get better, for political changes to occur, for interest rates to go down, for the economy to get better, for a donor to appear? This desire to have other people provide our happiness will not work. Disappointment and frustration always arise when we wait to receive something from someone else and they don’t provide it.My friends, no one holds your happiness in his/her hands. No one can treat you better than you are willing to treat yourself. I am saying this to show us that if we can start putting some action towards big things TODAY, and not wait for some deliverer from outside, we can rise above limiting and destructive circumstances. Actually if we will give up our old beliefs we will be open to new ideas that will greatly enhance our continent. A ship that is tied to a dock cannot explore the land. The way to do something is to simply start doing it.Waiting is a trap I say again. You don’t need details about how to do it, just start.Start small but don’t remain small. We have seen the mighty works of Boeing and Airbus and we continue to learn from them. But why are we waiting to start our giant African airplane manufacturing plants?Let God take care of the details as we make progress.
Do we believe this? We can only receive what our minds are capable of believing. We can go to the river of success with a teaspoon, and someone else may go with a cup. Someone else may go with a bucket, and yet another person may go with a barrel. But the abundance of the river is always there and ready for us.Seriously, are we waiting for the river of success to come to us? TODAY we can choose to go to the river of success not with a teaspoon, not with cup, not with bucket but with a big big container! TODAY we can choose to liberate our beautiful Africa from the jaws of poverty. We can not wait until tomorrow.
