“Build your own dreams, or someone else will hire you to build theirs.” — Farrah Gray
I hope I am not being forward by assuming that you are reading this particular article because the MAIN CHALLENGE that you are facing in pursuing aviation career is MONEY.
If you have been following Yadley.com for a while now, you will know we are 99.9% resistant to scholarships. As a Christian community, we believe you must use your hands to make money to pay for whatever training you may need. If you cannot make all of it, then at least make some of it – meet your sponsor halfway if you have one. You will save yourself a lot of heartaches if things ever go south.
The greatest motivation behind this philosophy is of course personal experience. I for one can tell you that I wasted a great deal of time (years and years) in pursuit of scholarships that never came and pledges that were never fulfilled. Strangers, family, friends, even reputable companies promised me scholarships and funding over the years but when it came down to delivering on those promises, I got one excuse after another. The heartache that came with each disappointment almost caused me to let go of my dream.
But then, it is true what they say, what doesn’t kill you, only makes you stronger. I counted the many years I had wasted simply because I had opted to put my life in the hands of other people. People who would never know how much their broken promises had broken me and reduced me to a shadow of my once youthful, zealous and passionate self.
I made a decision. I would never again, put my dreams and hopes in the hands of another person. I would slave, for as long as it took to fulfill my aviation dreams.
It has not been easy, and the journey is far from over, but I am proud of every milestone, every hour logged because it is my sweat and efforts that are propelling me forward. I am building my dreams on my own terms, one brick at a time.
To be continued…
