What Really Is Involved In The Training Program?

Let’s face it, everybody loves the opportunity to work for Emirates Airlines. I do. The airline is highly reputable for 5-star service, staff enthusiasm, generous compensation of staff, friendliness and overall hospitality. Without denying it, even the crew uniforms are awesome! But how exactly do you get to become a Cabin Crew member for this prestigious airline? Let us watch a quick video below of the Emirates Cabin Crew training program.

As you might have probably noticed from the video, getting to don that beautiful Emirates uniform does not come so easily. It takes a lot of time, energy and enthusiasm to successfully go through the 6-week training program. In case you could not watch the video, let us break down that training program and see what it consists of.

First of all, before you get to be accepted into the training program this is what you will need to have:

yadleyFluency in English (written and spoken)

yadleyMinimum height of 160 cm

yadleyAt least 21 years of age at the time of joining

yadleyArm reach of 212 cm while standing on tiptoes

yadleyNo visible tattoos

yadleyExcellent physically fitness for this demanding role

Have all these? Now let`s talk about the actual training program

Although the airline advertises its training program as a 5-week program, truth of the matter is that it is actually a 6-week program. The training is conducted at their state-of-the-art Cabin Crew training facility in Dubai, the Emirates Aviation College. The program emphasizes a lot on safety and guest centricity (customer service techniques) and it consists of two components:

Theory

The theory subjects you will cover include:

    • Safety and Emergency Procedures (SEP)
    • First Aid (accredited by the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh)
    • Service
    • Emirates Cabin Crew Image and Emirates Cabin Crew Uniform
    • Fitness and Nutrition
    • Security Procedures
  1. Practical

The practical training takes place in full motion simulators of all aircraft types. This ensures the most realistic learning conditions, giving trainees the necessary experience to deliver the finest service in the sky as part of the Emirates Cabin Crew team.

So after completing these two components are you done? Will the next step be to just jump on airplane and start working? Nop, not so fast! The Emirates training department may require you to attend additional Cabin Crew training to further enhance your skills on board.Once they are fully satisfied with your progress then you can be assigned to an airplane type as a junior Flight Attendant.

Here is what Stacy, a recent graduate from the Emirates Cabin Crew training program has to say:

Pros:

The Emirates Cabin Crew Training Program is fantastic. After the training, you develop skills that you can use for the rest of your life and you get to travel the world by only paying 10% of the regular flight fare. You also get free accommodation and transportation to the training institute.

Cons:

You work like an animal. This is a physically exhausting job. Imagine spending an entire 7hours under air pressure!

Do you think working as a Cabin Crew at this airline could be a good fit for you? Let us know.
